The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has decimated the People's National Party (PNP) in today's Local Government election with preliminary results showing the Labourites leading in 8 of the 14 local government authorities.

The PNP, which previously had control of all 14 local authorities has managed to retain four - the Manchester, Westmoreland and Hanover divisions as well as the Portmore Municipality.

There is however, a tie in St Thomas and St Catherine.

Meanwhile, the PNP's Leon Thomas has won the mayoral election over the JLP's Keith Blake.
