The Jamaica Labour Party's councillor-elect for the Yallahs Division in western St Thomas Dean Jones says he was attacked by gunmen following Monday's local government elections.

Speaking with The Gleaner/Power106 News Centre this morning Jones said he was on his way home when the men approached him.

Jones said on reaching Nine Miles the men again pulled up near his vehicle.

He says he has made an official report to the police.

However, he says he will not be intimidated.

Meanwhile, Jones says although the final count for the Yallahs division is still underway, he remains confident that he will come out victorious.

Monday's preliminary count saw Jones out-running his opponent, Constantine Bogle of the People's National Party by more than 100 votes.

Bogle has served as councilor of the Yallahs for two periods.
