Final ballots to be counted in St Thomas

The official count of votes cast in St Thomas is set to continue for a third day with ballots to be counted for two final divisions.

The preliminary count of ballots saw the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the People’s National Party (PNP) securing five divisions each.

The final count in the divisions completed so far has not changed that tally.

The count was set to resume at 9 o’clock this morning starting with the Seaforth division then White Horses.

Both are in the western St Thomas constituency.

The final count of the Trinityville division in the western constituency confirmed that Lensworth Rawl of the JLP will serve another term as the division's councillor.

Rawle got one thousand and 9 votes almost doubling the PNP's Olive Stewart's 580 vote count.

Meanwhile, in St Thomas East, the JLP's Michael McLeod retained his seat as councillor for the Dalvey division outdoing his PNP counterpart, Jairzenho Bailey.
