Big international participation at sweet 16 Reggae Marathon

More than 2300 runners are taking part in the 16th staging of the world famous Reggae Marathon in Negril, Westmoreland.
A record thirty eight countries including host Jamaica have representatives here for the marathon, which got underway at 4:00 am. This also include six new countries - Austria, Bolivia, China, Guatemala, Malaysia and Turkey.
Reggae Marathon has been drawing international attention in its 16 years running.
The United States has the largest contingent of runners this year - 819, with the Reggae Runners Group numbering the largest among them.
Reggae Runners are yearly sponsors of the Green Island High School's track and field programme. They also offer additional services to the school in other areas.
This year's event also features Chinese marathon winner, world record holder and Olympic athlete Sun Ying Jie and the 2016 Tottori, Japan Marathon winner Kota Taniguchi and compatriot Sakura Kondo.
