Education Ministry asks schools to consider measures to recover lost days
The Education Ministry has written to schools asking them to take measures to extend the Christmas school term to recover the days lost.
The ministry says teaching time was reduced due to the threat of Hurricane Matthew in October, the inclement weather which recently affected the island and the just concluded local government polls.
It says school administrators may extend each school day by one hour each week until the lost hours are recovered.
Alternatively, the ministry says schools may use days which were previously assigned as holidays.
The ministry says schools must advise their regional directors of the method they plan to use to recover teaching days that were lost during this term.
