US sees increase in illegal immigrants from Cuba
The United States Coast Guard says it has observed an increase in illegal migration by sea from Cuba to Southeastern sections of the United States (US).
The Coast Guard says Since October 1, an estimated 827 Cubans have attempted to illegally migrate to the US via the Caribbean Sea since October 1.
In 2016, the US Coast Guard said 7,411 Cubans attempted to illegally migrate via the sea, compared to 4,473 last year.
It says last Thursday, some 38 Cuban migrants were repatriated from the US to Cuba.
