Baby Danisha Maxwell was stolen on Friday but was reunited with her parents hours later.

Lorna Williams, the woman charged with stealing a baby from the University Hospital of the West Indies, is to appear in court on Friday.

Williams was expected to be brought before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court today but she was absent.

Her legal aid attorney, Carol DaCosta, sought to have the matter heard tomorrow however parish judge Tracy-Ann Johnson said this could not be facilitated because there are a number of other matters before the court.

DaCosta indicated that she intends to make a bail application on Friday.

Williams, a medical assistant, was charged with child stealing after the police found the stolen baby in her home in Rollington Town, East Kingston some five hours after the infant was reported missing on Friday.

Baby Danisha Maxwell was stolen from her mother’s cot on the postnatal ward of the hospital, after her mother fell asleep having taken medication.
