A nail technician of Portsmouth in Portmore, St Catherine, has been arrested for reportedly attempting to take ganja to Barbados.

Thirty-three-year-old Andre Thomas, otherwise called ‘British’, was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport yesterday.

The Narcotics Division says Thomas went to the airport about 12:30 in the afternoon and attempted to check in on a flight destined for Barbados.

He was stopped by detectives, interviewed, and his luggage searched.

The police say he subsequently expelled four cylindrical parcels containing ganja weighing about two pounds.

He was later arrested for Possession of Ganja, Dealing in Ganja and Taking Preparatory Steps to Export Ganja.

He is expected to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney and charged for the offences.
