The Bible

Father, how beautiful it is when all gather together around the crib where Jesus lay, Your only Begotten Son!

How marvelous it is when the shepherds and the sheep and the cows and their kids come to behold this first born Brother come down from Heaven to be with us. And the shepherds experiencing in their hearts and their souls a new life, a deep movement of joy and happiness and ecstasy, a peace and excitement, and at the same time, an inexpressible joy that Heaven has met Earth and there is the presence of your Beloved Son, Your One Begotten Son, whom every creature on Earth adores.

Yes, Lord, yes! We kneel, we pray, we bend down before You. There is so much happiness within our souls, we can only enclose it with our being, and hold on to that baby Jesus within us, never to let Him go, but to possess Him in the depths of ourselves, forever and ever.

Heavenly Father, we now hear the song from Heaven, "Glory to God in the highest, and, peace to men of goodwill." The trumpets sound, the angels sing, the shepherds shout for joy, we hear that burst of joy from every living creature, including the fish, and the birds, the turtles, the leopards and the lions, the elephants, and rhinos. They come together and gather together driven by the presence of the Divine Son, come down from Heaven.

Even the kings on their camels, great kings, mighty kings come to adore, Lord! "Come let us adore Him!" Jesus Christ, our Lord and King. The one Begotten of the Father.

"Light of lights, true God from true God, begotten not made."

Beautiful! Marvelous! Glorious! What can we do? How can we set aside everything for this child? Great and wonderful are You, Lord Almighty, yet humble and defenceless before all the people and all creation that gather before You and bow down before You all over the world, on this Christmas night.

Jesus! You are God; Mary, you are His beautiful mother; Joseph, you are His foster father. Yet, it is more than that - you and this Child is Mankind raised up to the level of the divine family of God, and God's Son brought down low to dwell among us, poor, forgotten, in our weak human flesh, sinners, drowned in sorrow, suffering, and fools.

Save us, Lord! We gather together with the Missionaries of the Poor on this night. We are in prayer before you, encased in our flesh. We offer ourselves to you, all that we are, all that we have. We know Lord that we are unworthy, but we give you ourselves; all that we have and all that we are.

Our souls are weak and wounded. We are afflicted by our cares of the world, but we give all that we are and all that we have.

Together with You and the brothers who live and serve among the poor both physically and materially, we pray that You will take and receive all that we have, and all that we are, and lead us, Lord. Let Your light shine on us, and we shall be saved. Lead us so we may be saved.

In the MOPs I see the light which brothers see: A little baby, born in a manger, guiding me towards Jesus, our salvation, who will suffer and die for us - knowing how weak we are, yet desiring that we will one day live in His house forever and ever!
