PAJ presses for PM to be more accessible to media
The Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) is pressing Prime Minister Andrew Holness to be more accessible to the media.
PAJ President Dionne Jackson Miller, in writing to the prime minister, acknowledged interviews done with select media houses, but complained that there has been no general press conference for the benefit of all media outlets since taking office in March.
She says the PAJ has been concerned about access to the prime minister and other ministers of government.
Jackson Miller says press conferences are important because they provide journalists with an opportunity to ask questions of the government for the benefit of the public.
She says Holness should seek to remedy the situation by holding a press conference early in the new year and on a regular scheduled basis.
