MANDEVILLE, Manchester:

In an effort to maintain order in select areas of the town of Mandeville during one of the busiest periods of the year, the Manchester police have implemented traffic changes and reassigned public passenger vehicles to new parking areas.

The road changes will run from Monday, December 19 to Tuesday, December 27, and include a cut-off point at the Manchester Road, where vehicles coming from a southerly direction to access Caledonia Road are expected to turn left on to Grove Road. On passing Grove Road, motorists are expected to turn right on to Wesley Road as no vehicular traffic will be allowed through the town centre.

According to Sergeant Everton Williams of the Manchester Police Traffic Department, a cut-off point has been implemented at Main Street, specifically Beaumont Drive and Manchester Road.

"Vehicles will have to turn right on to Beaumont Drive and left to go on to Caledonia Road, a cut-off point for Manchester Road coming from Ward Avenue, Caledonia Road or Perth Road," said Williams.

According to the police, all public passenger vehicles that ply the routes: Kingston, May Pen, Spanish Town, Spaldings and Christiana must utilise the transportation centre in Nashville, and public passenger vehicles coming from Montego Bay, Westmoreland, Santa Cruz, Alligator Pond and Junction must utilise the South Bound Transportation Centre.

All other vehicles that intend to go south will have to use Caledonia Road, Perth Road, Grove Road and on to Manchester or Caledonia Road, Villa Road and DeCarteret Road.
