eGov CEO's contract terminated without cause, third ICT dismissal in three months, PNP concerned

In a statement this morning, Julian Robinson, the Opposition Spokesman on Information and the Knowledge Economy, said earlier this week, the contract of the CEO of eGov Jamaica Herman Athias was terminated without cause.

The Opposition is worried about the potential impact of the loss of three senior executives in the Information Communication Sector in as many months on the Government’s plan to use ICT as a tool for public sector transformation.

In a statement this morning, Julian Robinson, the Opposition Spokesman on Information and the Knowledge Economy, said earlier this week, the contract of the CEO of eGov Jamaica Herman Athias was terminated without cause.

Robinson says this followed the abrupt September resignation of the country’s first Chief Information Officer Dr Louis Shallal and the termination of the CEO of the Universal Service Fund, Hugh Cross.

Robinson says these developments are part of a worrying trend since the Jamaica Labour Party assumed office in February to terminate professionals and replace them with political activists.
