The spirit of Christmas will be on full display at the Old Hospital Park on Gloucester Avenue in Montego Bay on Sunday, December 25, where some 2,000 children are set to receive gifts.

The children, from communities in and around the resort city, will also be kept busy by numerous activities throughout the day, inclusive of a top-flight Christmas concert.

The collaborative effort, which is being put on by Hah-R-Mony Entertainment Limited and the St James Parish Council, is being hailed by residents as a welcome gesture for the city of Montego Bay and, by extension, the parish of St James.

"This is indeed a very big deal," resident and businesswoman Camille Miller noted. "There are a lot of families who cannot afford to buy their children Christmas presents, who will be very appreciative of this act of kindness. Christmas is a time for giving and sharing, and this is being exemplified here in a most powerful way."

Businessman and duty free merchant Ravi Daswani agreed. "These kinds of gestures will go a long way in rekindling hope and faith in our fellowmen," he pointed out. "Montego Bay has been reeling from a lot of bad publicity in recent times and really need something positive to look forward to. This might well be what the doctor ordered."

CEO and Corporate Entertainment Director of Hah-R-Mony Ho-Chi-Min Castillo Rolffot said the idea was born out of the need to give something back to a community that has been "very good to my company".

"Hah-R-Mony Entertainment is the biggest of its kind and is responsible for promoting shows in some 29 hotels on the northern coast of Jamaica," he pointed out. "We have done very well and simply felt this urge to do something very special for the children. We are spending roughly $2 million to put everything on, including the gifts, and are very happy to be in a position to do this."

He added that the plan is for this to evolve into an annual event, saying that he expects next year to be bigger and probably even attracting some sponsors.

Hah-R-Mony was established in 2009 by a team of the island's most successful entertainment planners, experienced in the art of providing exceptional service in the tourism and entertainment industry.
