Shaw promises to build on growth momentum
Finance Minister Audley Shaw says the government is seeking to maintain and build on the momentum resulting from the 2.2 percent economic growth recorded during the July to September quarter.
In reiterating that this was the highest out-turn since 2007, Mr. Shaw said Jamaica’s macroeconomic environment was stabilising with prospects for further growth.
He pointed to the potential for growth in the agriculture sector, noting that it could benefit from the 3,300 new hotel rooms which are to come on stream.
The Government has targeted five per cent growth in four years and has appointed the Michael Lee Chin-led Economic Growth Council to help in attaining this objective.
