JCC says businesses reporting mixed business performance for Christmas period
Larry Watson, President of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC), says it was a mixed performance for businesses over the Christmas spending period.
Watson says feedback so far indicate that some retailers did better than others, with some reporting improved revenues while others reported declines in sales.
Noting that the Bank of Jamaica had reported that there was an increase in money in circulation for December, the JCC president says overall it was a better business period for most establishments.
He says the decision of some local authorities to reduce illegal vending over the Christmas period benefited store owners who saw more pedestrian shoppers.
