The National Works Agency (NWA) says it will temporarily reopen both sides of the Marcus Garvey Drive in St Andrew tomorrow to facilitate people travelling to the New Year’s Eve concert Fireworks on the Waterfront.

The agency says both the eastern and western corridors will opened at 3 p.m. tomorrow and will close at 8 a.m Sunday morning.

The NWA says this is to facilitate the expected increase in traffic flow.

However, the NWA is reminding motorists that Marcus Garvey Drive continues to be a work zone and that there are a number of open trenches and manholes along the roadway.

It says these will be cordoned off for the safety of road users.

The upgrading of Marcus Garvey Drive is 85 percent complete is expected to be handed over in March.
