New Commish must present own anti-crime plan – gov't

The National Security Minister Robert Montague has announced that the next police commissioner will be employed under a contract with specific performance targets.

According to Montague, already the Police Service Commission (PSC) has been informed about the change.

The Minister also said the next police commissioner must come to the job with his or her own plan to tackle the country's crime situation.

The new commissioner will replace Dr Carl Williams who is to proceed on early retirement on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Novlette Grant is to act as police chief while the search for his successor is conducted.
