Police intensify probe into murder of St Ann JP, businessman Corrodus
Head of the St Ann Police, Superintendent Gary Francis, says investigators are searching for clues into last night’s murder of Justice of the Peace (JP) and businessman, Colin Corrodus.
Superintendent Francis says Corrodus was attacked by four gunmen, some wearing masks, who tried to steal his licensed firearm.
He says information gathered so far indicates that the businessman was among a group playing dominoes at his home when gunmen came up and demanded his gun.
He says a struggle ensued and Corrodus was shot.
The gunmen then reportedly went inside the house and attempted to conduct a robbery during which the businessman’s wife was gun-butted.
They then escaped.
Superintendent Francis says police investigators have intensified their probe and are appealing to the public for information.
Meanwhile, fellow businessman and JP, Pixley Inons, says the St Ann business and lay magistrate communities are shaken by Corrodus’ murder.
He says many business operators are concerned about their safety and want immediate action to arrest the crime problem in the parish.
