PM to headline 2017 JSE Regional Investment Conference
The upcoming 12th annual Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) Regional Investment Conference, slated for January 24-26 at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, is expected to see an impressive line-up of local and international industry speakers.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness will be the keynote speaker, declaring the conference open on January 24.
Planned around the theme 'Global Investment Horizon: Our Options & Future', the event will be attended by investors, fund managers, bankers, financial advisers and intermediaries, business owners, entrepreneurs, as well as policymakers from the private and public sectors.
"Our extensive agenda is very rich in content and is focused on engaging, informing and furthering the discussion on developments within the capital markets," said Marlene Street Forrest, the JSE's general manager.
One of the listed top speakers is Dr Isaac Newton, international leadership, change management consultant and political adviser and the presenter at the leadership training workshop titled 'Cultivating a winning mindscape in global markets', which will take place on Wednesday, January 25.
Newton is the president of Paramount Communications Inc based in New York, USA. He is an international leadership consultant and change management expert specialising in government and business relations.
Isaac helps high-profile leaders expand their profit margins and restructure their organisations. Ungad Chadda, president of Capital Formation, Equity Capital Markets, TMX Group Limited (Toronto Stock Exchange) will give the opening address on Thursday, January 26. He will explore 'Our Options & Future - Forging Relationship with the TSX', and John Andrews, writer and movie producer, ALI Pictures LLC, New York, will delve into the content of upcoming big-screen projects 'Rude Buay, The Unstoppable' and 'Who Shot the Sheriff?'
Main conference sponsor and regular speaker, Gregory Fisher, managing director of Jefferies, will open the event on January 24, along with Street Forrest, and Ian McNaughton, the JSE's chairman.
Fisher will speak on the topic 'Heralding the new era of Business Financing: A global perspective', while McNaughton will explore 'The role of the capital markets in driving growth'.
Bank of Jamaica Governor Brian Wynter will lead the panel discussion of 'The Way Forward for the Banking and Securities Industry'.

The official opening takes place on January 24 and the three-day conference will feature keynote presentations, plenaries, round-table discussions and networking sessions.
January 26 will see the launch of the crowdfunding platform by Street Forrest.
