A St Catherine bus operator  who was charged with the murder of an employee of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company was freed in the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

Thirty-year-old Owayno Warmington was charged for the murder of Dwayne Brown of Portsmouth in Portmore, St Catherine in 2016.

When Warmington appeared in court yesterday, his attorney Peter Champagnie told the judge that there was no eyewitness in the matter and his client had acted in self-defence.

Champagnie told the judge that there is not enough evidence on which to proceed to a trial in the Circuit Court.

The judge upheld the submission which resulted in Warmington being set free.

Allegations are that on April 27 last year, there was a domestic dispute between Warmington and the deceased during which Brown was stabbed in the chest and later died.

Warmington was charged with murder and made numerous court appearances during which he maintained his innocence.
