The Education Minister Ruel Reid says a statement will be issued after his meeting with the board and embattled principal of the Hampton School in St Elizabeth.

Heather Murray, the principal of the all girls’ school has come under intense public pressure for showing up at the courthouse where the Moravian pastor Rupert Clarke made his bail appearance.

Reid says in light of the extensive public debate over the issue, he had a duty to intervene and to meet with the school administration and board to give some direction on the way forward.

The education minister says he stayed out of the public debate on the issue because it was important that he acted objectively and dispassionately when he meets with the parties involved.
