JPS calls in more teams to help in power restoration
The Jamaica Public Service Company says it has called in several teams based outside the Corporate Area and St Catherine to help in the restoration of electricity to customers affected power outages in the past two days.
Last night, JPS teams worked up to midnight trying to restore supply to as many customers as possible.
However, the company says some people will remain out of power until later today.
The outage has been caused by strong winds associated with a cold front affecting the island.
JPS president and CEO Kelly Tomblin says the situation was made worse by the overgrowth of trees near power lines.
She says as a result, power restoration is delayed in some communities because work crews are removing the trees.
