Education Minister Senator Ruel Reid says he’s to hold consultations with stakeholders about Dr Paul Gardner’s continued chairmanship of the Teachers’ Service Commission.

News came yesterday that Dr Gardner resigned as President of the Moravian Church in Jamaica and there were indications that he could also step down as the commission's chair.

This morning, Senator Reid declined to disclose details of his meeting held yesterday with Dr Gardner only saying the talks were frank.

He says he took no position regarding Dr Gardner’s chairmanship arising from the meeting because he wants to get feedback before making a decision.

Dr Gardner’s resignation as the president of the Moravian church came amid the sex scandal gripping the Moravian church arising from a 64 year old Moravian minister being arrested and charged for allegedly having sex with a minor.

The scandal deepened after emails released by a former Moravian pastor revealed that Dr Gardner was aware of allegations of sexual misconduct involving pastor Rupert Clarke after he had publicly denied having knowledge of the concerns.
