Police cordon off a section of Upper Caramel Avenue in Cherry Gardens following a hold-up on Saturday afternoon.

Three would-be robbers are now in police custody after they were accosted during a hold-up at a house on Upper Caramel Avenue in Cherry Gardens, St Andrew this afternoon.

The police were alerted about the hold-up and surrounded the house securing the release of the four occupants.

There was, however, a reported stand-off before the gunmen were eventually accosted and one gun and two knives seized.

The robbers were immediately taken into police custody.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rudolph Taylor said the gunmen had robbed the four occupants of cash, cellphones and jewellery.

However, he said all the items have been retrieved.

Taylor also said the incident has left the occupants shaken.

While the police processed the scene, a section of Upper Caramel Avenue was blocked off for several hours.
