The United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands has revealed that it is now probing one of its ministers for sexual misconduct.

The general secretary of the United Church in Jamaica, the Reverend Norbert Stephens says a committee has been established to investigate the allegations against the minister.

A decision on the membership of the accused pastor could be made as early as next week.

The Jamaican pastor who is now preaching in the United Kingdom is accused of coercing a Singaporean woman into a sexual relationship, then forcing her to abort their child.

Contacted by The Gleaner, the pastor asked for 24 hours to compose a response saying he would neither confirm nor deny the allegations.

The pastor has been on leave from the United Church for several years.
