Police statistics: 709 persons arrested in first three weeks of 2017
Police statistics are showing that a total of 709 persons were arrested during the first three weeks of 2017.
This is seven fewer than the corresponding period last year.
The statistics also show that the police seized 51 firearms and a total of 550 rounds of ammunition.
Seven firearms and almost 80 rounds of ammunition have been reported stolen so far this year.
Meanwhile, the police have received reports of 29 stolen motor vehicles.
However, praedial larceny appears to be declining as the police only recorded four cases during the first three weeks of 2017.
This is nine fewer than the corresponding period of 2016.
