Education Minister Ruel Reid speaks to classmates of deceased teen Roshane Smith at the Denham Town High School, on Monday.

Education Minister Ruel Reid has urged students of Denham Town High to remain peaceful and encourage others in their communities to do the same as they mourn the death of a 13-year-old student who was murdered last week.

Roshane Smith was found dead last Thursday in Eve Lane off Heroes Circle in downtown Kingston.

The body had both hands bound and gunshot wounds to the head.

On a visit to Denham Town High School today, Reid told students that crime and violence can only be reduced when youth are educated and become productive citizens.

He encouraged them to take advantage of a number of opportunities provided by the government and private sector.
