The 15-year-old St Thomas Technical High School male student who was allegedly held with an illegal gun has been granted $350,000 bail.

The bail was offered when the teen, who is charged with illegal possession of firearm, appeared in the Yallahs Children's Court yesterday.

He’s to return to court on March 23.

The St Thomas police had reported that they were carrying out a stop and search operation along the Prospect main road on January 26 when they searched a bus in which the teen was travelling.

The police say they found a home-made firearm in the teen's schoolbag.

He was arrested and subsequently charged.
