The commission established to conduct a strategic review of the National Housing Trust (NHT) will submit its report to the Government next month.

Last July, Prime Minister Andrew Holness appointed the commission comprising members from the public and private sectors.

Delivering the Throne Speech in Parliament earlier today, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen said the report will form part of the strategic housing policy of the Government.

He explained further that the report will provide the framework for the administration to achieve its goal of access to affordable, safe and legal housing solutions for all Jamaicans by 2030.

"It will therefore assist in satisfying the demand for housing in a coordinated and economical manner and to respond to the diverse needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable persons within the society," Sir Patrick added.
