Tank-Weld hands over $6.3m to purchase ambulance for St Ann's Bay hospital
Tank-Weld Metals on yesterday handed over a cheque for $6.3 million to the North East Regional Health Authority (NERHA) to be used to acquire an ambulance for the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital.
Marianne Greaves, co-inventory manager at Tank-Well, handed over the cheque to Tyrone Robinson, chairman of NERHA.
Robinson expressed appreciation for the donation and said the ambulance is well needed as the region was in short supply of the vehicles.
Robinson also had special words of commendation for Tank-Weld chairman, Christopher Bicknell, who he said spearheaded the effort.
Regional director for NERHA, Fabia Lamm, was also delighted with the contribution, saying one of the shortfalls at the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital was the inability to move patients on a timely basis.
She says the hospital needs at least three more ambulances, each estimated to cost in the region of $12 million.
