University lecturer and Gleaner columnist Dr Orville Taylor and his sister, Marie Taylor, say a final goodbye to their mother, Ivy Agatha Reid Taylor, at the Bible Truth Church of God in St Andrew yesterday.

The measure of the woman was seen in her five children yesterday, who, with her guidance, have moved from humble beginnings to assume prominent positions in today's Jamaica.

Yesterday, the children were joined by other family members and friends to say a final goodbye to Ivy Agatha Reid Taylor (Mama Ivy).

She was remembered as a well-beloved, forgiving and family-oriented disciplinarian to her children, who include university lecturer and Gleaner columnist Dr Orville Taylor.

"Mama was a contemporary woman like the sun. Today she's shining bright and tonight she is waiting still, to smile another day," said her son, Renford Taylor.

Mama Ivy died on January 19 from natural causes.
