Attorney could seek court order for Alkaline's release
The attorney representing popular entertainer Alkaline has said he will go to court to apply for an order to have him released if the police continue to detain him.
Up to yesterday, the 23-year-old entertainer whose given name is Earlan Bartley remained in police custody.
Alkaline has been in police custody since last Thursday.
The police are questioning him in relation to the shooting death of Rohan Morris in the St Andrew community of Marverly last month.
Attorney-at-law Peter Champagnie on Friday said the police indicated that they would review the material they have before deciding on their next move.
On Saturday head of the Criminal Investigations Branch, Assistant Commissioner Ealan Powell, said detectives were still conducting their investigations.
He said if there is the need for the entertainer to remain in custody the law allows the police to obtain an order from a Justice of the Peace.
