A Clarendon-based taxi operator who was held with over 440 pounds of ganja was remanded when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court today.

Fifty-two-year-old taxi operator Patrick Phillips is to reappear in court on March 17.

The court heard that on February 9, a police team was on an operation along the Hellshire Main Road in St Catherine when they signalled a motorcar driven by Phillips to stop.

The trunk of the vehicle was searched and nine knitted bags with  ganja weighing 445 pounds were reportedly found.

He was subsequently charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and transporting ganja.
