St Thomas man allegedly sets fire to son's house

A St Thomas man believed to be of unsound mind is in police custody in relation to a suspected case of arson.

It is reported that the man set fire to a house he shares with his son in Albion in the parish.

Reports are that he damaged several pieces of furniture and then set them on fire.

Neighbours later saw smoke coming from the house and called the fire department.

One unit from the nearby Yallahs Fire Station responded and fire-fighters said on arrival the house was found engulfed in flames.

The blaze was eventually extinguished.

The damage is estimated at $3 million.

The house was insured.
