The Kingston franchise of popular jerk spot Scotchies is to lose its name a little under seven years after it opened in the capital.

Yesterday, Scotchies Restaurants of Jamaica announced that it has withdrawn consent for the use of its trademark by Tony J Limited at the eatery operated at Chelsea Avenue in Kingston.

The notice said consent was withdrawn effective February 7.

Scotchies Restaurants of Jamaica says the action was taken to protect its interest and reputation for quality products and service.

Scotchies has long been a popular spot for locals and tourists in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay and was well-received when it opened in Kingston in 2010.
