The Embassy of Spain initiates career and business forum
The Embassy of Spain in Jamaica, in partnership with the Caribbean Policy Research Institute, The University of the West Indies' Department of Economics and The Spanish-Jamaican Foundation, will today welcome students to a career development forum with general manager of Global Exchange for Jamaica and T&T, Carlos Matallana.
The forum gets under way in the UWI Mona Assembly Hall at 9 a.m.
FIRST IN SERIES
The event is the first in a series, co-curated by the Embassy of Spain and the Caribbean Policy Research Institute, titled 'Conversations with Spain'.
The series will be completed with a panel discussion on tourism investments and a renewable energies workshop, later this year.
The discussion aims to stress the value, for a target population in its 20s, of self-exploration, from the perspective of someone who started off with a dream of being a pilot, pursued it (working in the aviation industry from 2008 to 2013), shifted towards an automotive sales career, to finally be addressing the room as the general manager (Jamaica and T&T) for one of the world's fastest-growing, most successful currency exchange platforms in the world.
Two lucky participants will be selected to accompany Matallana back to Global Exchange's Montego Bay offices, where they will shadow him throughout the course of a day.
