Two cops die in less than 24 hours after violent attacks

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has been plunged into mourning this morning with the loss of two of its members in less than 24 hours apart.

The police say a District Constable from St Catherine died at hospital yesterday from gun shot wounds he received during a shooting incident in the Aviary Housing Scheme in Old Harbour, St Catherine one week ago.

Head of communication at the JCF Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay told our news centre another police personnel is suspected to have carried out the attack on the District Constable.

She says the matter is being investigated by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

A police sergeant was shot and killed in Caymanas, Gregory Park, St Catherine this morning.

The police say the incident occurred some time after 2 this morning while the sergeant was leaving an event.

He was reportedly sitting in a car with two females when men wearing masks ambushed and shot him.

He was pronounced dead at hospital.

The sergeant was attached to the police emergency centre.
