The Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie says parish councillors who continue to flout the law can expect to be aggressively pursued by the Office of the Contractor General (OCG).

McKenzie was addressing councillors from Hanover, St James, Westmoreland and Trelawny during a sensitisation session in Montego Bay.

He urged them to pay strict attention to guidelines, warning that ignorance will no longer be an accepted line of defence.

McKenzie told councillors that the days when they could simply write on a piece of paper recommending who should be contracted to carry out work on behalf of municipal corporations are long gone.

He warned that the practice is still happening, those involved she be prepared to face the wrath of the OCG, as the guidelines are clear.
