With billions of dollars owing in unpaid traffic tickets, Justice Minister Delroy Chuck says warrants are being prepared to lock-up motorists who have failed to pay fines.

"We are presently putting in place the necessary checks and balances so that when we arrest people we know that they actually have not paid the fines," said Chuck.

"If you have not paid your traffic fines try and put it together soon," added Chuck.

He told members of Parliament's Standing Finance Committee this morning that the police have some 70,000 warrants to serve on delinquent motorists.
