Tufton says the Government is assessing the reserves at the National Health Fund to determine whether it could further help in the repairs at Cornwall.

Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton says a project manager has been identified to fix the problem with the air conditioning (AC) unit at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.

He also says the terms of reference are being prepared for the hiring of a contractor to assess the works to be done.

Tufton says the Government is also assessing the reserves at the National Health Fund to determine whether it could further help in the repairs at Cornwall.

Tufton's disclosures on the funding came after his Opposition counterpart, Horace Dalley noted that the proposed ministry budget did not include any allocation to fix Cornwall Regional.

Dalley said he supports the ministry's efforts and insisted that politics should not play any role addressing the problem.

A timeline for the repairs process was not announced.

International partners including the Pan American Health Organisation have been helping local officials at Cornwall.
