Changes coming to ensure accountability at Rifle Association
The National Security Minister Robert Montague says changes are coming to ensure accountability at the Jamaica Rifle Association.
This week, The Sunday Gleaner detailed a litany of worries about the operational structure of the organisation and a weak system of accountability.
Yesterday, Montague met with members of the association to discuss the concerns.
He says the Firearm Licensing Authority is to undertake an audit of the association and by-laws are to be established to allow the authority to access the lockers of members.
Currently, the internal policies of the Jamaica Rifle Association do not allow anyone to access the lockers of members.
Meanwhile, the minister says unopened lockers at the association should be cleared by March 21.
