Manchester, Jamaica:
A Second form student of the Victor Dixon High School in Manchester is in hospital in critical condition after being hit by taxi while on her way to school this morning.

According to reports at approximately 7:30 a.m., the student came out of a taxi and was going through the intersection of Manchester and May Day roads, when she was hit by the motor car.

The schoolgirl was pushed onto a Honda CRV travelling towards Mandeville.

She was taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital, where she is being treated.

According to Loyda Harvey, Guidance Counselor at the institution, the school is prayerful at this time and a special devotion was done for the student and her family members.

With the increase in accidents happening along the stretch, Harvey believes traffic lights should be installed at the intersection.
