Chang says Phillips must move beyond criticising and present his alternative.

Public commentator Kevin O’Brien Chang says Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Dr Peter Phillips, needs to present his own economic plans for the country when he speaks this afternoon in the Budget Debate in Parliament.

The debate was opened last Thursday by Finance Minister, Audley Shaw, who announced a $13.5-billion tax package.

Shaw also disclosed that $11.4 billion will be drawn from the National Housing Trust and an additional $3.9 billion will come from a revised property tax system.

Phillips has already bashed the tax package calling it uncontainable and a betrayal of the trust of the people of Jamaica.

Chang says Phillips must move beyond criticising and present his alternative.
