Tragedy struck at the Errol Flynn mega yacht marina in Port Antonio yesterday afternoon when a foreign national fell from a pole aboard a vessel and reportedly crashed through the deck.

The police have not yet revealed the identity or nationality of the foreigner, but they have confirmed that the person involved is a female crew member.

The matter is being treated as an accident.

Commanding officer in charge of the Portland division, Rex Swearing, says the incident took place around 2:50 p.m. when the woman was reportedly carrying out her duties aboard the vessel.

Following what has been estimated by bystanders to be a 30-foot fall, the woman was rushed to the Port Antonio hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The deceased was among 20 persons aboard a 60-foot sailboat which docked at the mega yacht marina Saturday evening.
