Gov't, Opposition shocked at passing of JCDC executive director
The Government and Opposition have reacted with shock at the death of the Executive Director of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, Delroy Gordon.
He was 55.
Gordon died suddenly this morning, sometime after complaining about a headache.
The Culture and Entertainment Minister Babsy Grange says Gordon was an affable and capable man who was dedicated to cultural development and committed to the JCDC.

Grange says Godon’s long association with the JCDC dates back to 1977 when he won his first medal in the National Dance Competition.
Ten years later, he joined the staff as a Cultural Organiser and spearheaded the transformation of the JCDC in several areas.

Meanwhile, the Opposition spokesperson on Culture, Lisa Hanna, says the death is devastating.
She says Jamaica has lost a true patriot who was dedicated to high quality service.
Hanna has credited Gordon as a responsible administrator who spent wisely while ensuring high quality.
