Regional body lauds 23 employees
Amid hazardous, unpleasant situations and sometimes extremely long hours, the maintenance personnel and drivers of the Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA) have defied the odds and worked tirelessly to ensure that good health care is offered to all.
It is as a result if this, that approximately 23 individuals from the parishes; St Elizabeth, Clarendon and Manchester were awarded recently by the region at an awards banquet.
Regional Director SRHA, Michael Bent expressed that even as the individuals have an obligation to the provide good health care services, they have never wavered in additional tasks given.
"I need to salute you today.You are entrusted with the most expensive fixed assets of the health sector, we really appreciate your service to the region," said Bent.
Chairman of the Board, Wayne Chen acknowledged that things can only get better once the necessary foundation is laid.
"Organisations thrive when we allow ideas, experience, to filter upward from the bottom. Keep a listening ear, keeping an open mind/door so that we can find some of these innovative ideas that will make for the delivery of good health care," Chen told the awardees at the event held recently in Manchester.
Among the awards presented were: Maintenance Personnel (per parish), Drivers (per facility), Directors Award, High Achievers Award, Innovation and Maintenance personnel and Driver of the year.
Managing Director of Rentokil Initial Jamaica Ltd, Maurice Goldson who was the guest speaker at the function, brought much insight into how one can propel themselves no matter their position in life .
"Excellence is an attitude. It is not dependent upon your position in any place, but upon your mindset...it's an attitude that strives to do better at every opportunity. It is the desire to be the best that you can be," Goldson said.
"You must be teachable, must be willing to listen and open to learning and it is crucial that we be wise with the information we 're taking up and ask ourselves, 'is it helping?' Every day you must do something to be different," he added.
