Flash Flood Watch issued for St Thomas, St Mary and Portland in effect until tomorrow
The Meteorological Service says the Flash Flood Watch issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Thomas, St Mary and Portland will remain in effect until 5 o'clock tomorrow morning.
A Flash Flood Watch means that flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed about the weather conditions and be ready to evacuate if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
The Met Service says a stationary front just east of Jamaica continues to influence weather conditions across the island.
It says satellite imagery and radar reports indicate that there have been light to moderate showers over mainly eastern and central parishes since last evening.
The Met Service says showers, which could be heavy at times, are expected to continue over sections of St Mary, St Thomas and Portland today.
As a result, it says flash flooding is likely over some low-lying and flood-prone areas in these parishes.
