People’s National Party (PNP) General Secretary, Julian Robinson, says all is in place for Sunday’s special delegate’s conference to confirm Dr Peter Phillips as the new party president.

The conference will be held at the National Arena in Kingston.

Speaking at a media briefing this morning, Robinson said the party will be using the same delegates list from the annual conference held last September

He said there will be no actual voting seeing that Dr Phillips is the only nominee.

Instead, he said he will be confirmed by acclamation.

Outgoing PNP President Portia Simpson Miller did not seek re-election.

She has indicated that she will step down as Leader of the Opposition on April 2.

Her departure would pave the way for Dr Phillips, who had unsuccessfully ran against Simpson Miller twice, to take over that role.
