Manchester businessmen rescued, ransom-seeking kidnappers arrested
Two businessmen who were kidnapped have now been found and released and the accused kidnappers taken into custody.
According to Superintendent of Police Wayne Cameron, about 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, the two businessmen were abducted, and tied up at a house then moved to bushes by two gunmen.
The kidnappers made a phone call to the wife of one of the businessmen demanding a ransom.
She withdrew $1 million and left it at a location in Mandeville, as she was instructed to do by the kidnappers.
One man showed up to retrieve the money and was arrested by an undercover police on location.
The police then went to the location and freed the businessmen after accosting one of the kidnappers.
Two other suspects, however, managed to escape from the building where the businessmen were initially being held.
According to police, the man who was arrested is believed to be a member of the Grey Ground gang and was picked up last week, among 12 other men, after a cordon and search operation in the his community.
