Technical team leaves for Brazil today to investigate contaminated corned beef
A technical team is to leave the island today as the Government conducts its own probe into the contaminated corned beef saga in Brazil.
Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Donavan Stanberry says the team will include personnel from the Veterinary Services Division, Public Health Department, the Bureau of Standards, the Consumer Affairs Commission and representatives of corned beef importers.
Meanwhile, testing is underway on samples of corned beef imported from Brazil.
The Agriculture Ministry has declared that the ban on the importation and distribution of corned beef from Brazil will remain until relevant tests have been completed.
